BAJUS calls for buying ornaments from legitimate Jewellers

Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) on Tuesday (April 26) urged people to purchase gold items from genuine and legitimate jewellery shops to get protected from any fraud.

BAJUS also encourages buying ornaments only from its member Jewellers as it will not take responsibility if anyone is deceived by an illegal outlet.

Chairman of BAJUS standing committee on law and membership and BAJUS former president MA Wadud Khan came up with the remarks at a reception ceremony for new members of BAJUS at Bashundhara Shopping Complex in the capital.

Vice-Chairman of BAJUS standing committee on law and membership and BAJUS Assistant Secretary Masudur Rahman delivered a welcome speech while the programme was moderated by member secretary of BAJUS standing committee on law and membership and BAJUS executive committee member Ripnul Hassan.

BAJUS senior vice-president Gulzar Ahmed and its former president Dr Dilip Kumar Roy spoke on the occasion.

Addressing the new members of BAHUS, MA Wadud Khan said, "All types of buying and selling memos or invoices should have BAJUS ID numbers. All jewellery showrooms should have stickers with BAJUS ID numbers and logos. Besides, I am urging all the jewellery traders to join BAJUS soon."

Masudur Rahman said, "BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir's leadership skills and good planning will bring life to the jewellery industry, through which we will reach the expected goal."

He also said: "BAJUS would not take any responsibility if anyone buy gold ornaments from anywhere other than its members. Traders will not sell any gold items without Hallmark. If there is a jewellery institute in the country, skilled manpower will be generated and we can export gold items after meeting the country's demand. So, I am recommending setting up an institute in this regard."

BAJUS Assistant Secretary Bidhan Malakar, Members of BAJUS Standing Committee on Law and Membership Kazi Emdadul Haque, Shibu Prasad Majumder, Shawon Saha, Member of BAJUS Standing Committee on District Monitoring Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, Member of BAJUS Standing Committee on Tariff and Taxation Harun Ur Rashid attended the event..

About 200 new members were received with flowers at the ceremony where the BAJUS leaders handed over the letters of initial membership to them.
