DHAKA: Dr Khalida Iqram, Professor of Architecture Department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has been appointed as its first ever female Vice-Chancellor (VC).

Education Ministry Senior Information Officer Subodh Chandra Dhali confirmed the matter to banglanews.

President M Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, on Thursday afternoon appointed her as the new VC for the institution for next four years.

BUET’s former VC Professor Dr Nazrul Islam will formally hand over charges to the newly appointed VC.

However, BUET’s teachers association claimed that Dr Khalida Iqram was appointed by superseding 14 senior teachers of the university.
