Bashundhara Group spreads joy in iftar

After taking iftar Siratul Mustakim, an ibtedayi student of Jamia Madania Baridhara madrasah, was approaching towards the adjacent mosque to perform the Maghrib prayer happily.

Speaking about the reason for his happiness, he said, “Alhamdulillah. All praises for the Almighty Allah. The Rabbul Alamin has allowed me to complete fasting and take iftar with delicious items.”

Asked what special things made him pleased during iftar, the nine-year-old boy said, “Everything. I like all traditional iftar items, especially jalebi.”

Some 700 fasting devotees, including the students and teachers of Jamia Madania Baridhara madrasah, take iftar at the ground floor and fifth and sixth floor of the compound.

Bashundhara Group sends their iftar in a box filled with Muri, Chhola Bhuna, Beguni, Piazu, Alur Chop, Jalebi and various types of fruits along with a bottle of mineral water.

On behalf of the group’s Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, this iftar distribution programme is going on throughout the month of Ramadan all across Bangladesh.

Jamia Madania Baridhara’s Muhaddis Mufti Zakir Hossain Kashemi said Bashundhara Group has been providing iftar for 700 people since the first day of Ramadan and it has promised us to continue the initiative till the last day of the month.

“Bashundhara Group sent us iftar items last year as well. This year the group has increased the number of boxes. This is really appreciable. Feeding the fasting people is an act of great reward,” he said.

“We pray to the Almighty Allah for prosperity of Bashundhara Group and peace and for its Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and his family members,” Zakir Hossain Kashemi said, adding that all able people of the country should follow his footstep.

Some 3,000 fasting Muslims have been receiving iftar items at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, thanks to the initiative taken by Sayem Sobhan Anvir, who is also the chief advisor of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee.

Rickshaw puller Selim Uddin takes iftar here every day. According to him, this is like a huge blessing for him.

“If I had to take iftar outside, I would have to spend Tk100 for this. I am saving this money so that when I will go home in Kurigram this Eid I can give something to my mother, wife and girl,” he said.

Mentioning that around 80,000 people got iftar here last year, President of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee Haji Md Yakub Ali said iftar will be organised for about 1 lakh fasting devotees during the month of Ramadan in the National Mosque alone.

“Our Chief Adviser Sayem Sobhan Anvir sends 3,000 packets of iftar with water every day under his supervision. Starting from ordinary devotees, disadvantaged men and women are having iftar here. We arrange iftar for some 200 women separately,” he said.

Right before the iftar, Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque prayed to the Almighty Allah to accept and approve the services of Bashundhara Group for Islam.

Like Jamia Madania Baridhara and Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Bashundhara Group, Bangladesh’s largest industrial conglomerate, is distributing iftar among 21,000 fasting people in different madrasahs and mosques throughout the country every day.

It is to be mentioned that the International Hifzul Quran Competition is being held under the initiative of Bashundhara Group. It also organises Umrah Programme for devotee Mulims and distributes the holy Quran among students.
