Major General Mohammad Jahangir Alam has been appointed as the Director General of Directorate General of Defense Intelligence (DGFI).

Jahangir Alam succeeded Major General Faizur Rahman, who has been promoted to lieutenant general and made the quartermaster general. 

He was serving as GOC of the 33 Infantry Division in Cumilla.

Lieutenant General Mujibur Rahman, who was the QMG during the deposed Awami League government, was sent to ARTDOC following the political changeover.

Lt Gen Ahmed Tabrez Shams Chowdhury, GOC of ARTDOC, was made QMG.

Tabrez was sent into retirement on September 12 after a month while Mujibur was dismissed. Since then both the posts have been vacant.

The Army Headquarters made the decision on Monday (Oct 14).
