The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today set April 6 as the new deadline for submitting the probe report in the ongoing crimes against humanity and genocide case related to the Jatrabari area, stemming from the July-August mass uprising.
The tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, granted a two-month extension after the prosecution requested additional time.
Prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud confirmed the adjustment, noting that the original submission date was set for today.
Two accused individuals, former Jatrabari Police Station officer-in-charge Abul Hossain and former assistant commissioner of police Tanjil Ahmed, were present for today's hearing, out of six total accused.
The tribunal also approved two pleas related to the seizure of documents presented by prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim.
The infamous Jatrabari area witnessed horrific violence during the 1990s uprising, in which law enforcement and ruling party cadres allegedly committed brutal acts to suppress the student-led protests, resulting in hundreds of deaths and contributing to the eventual fall of Sheikh Hasina's autocratic regime.
