DHAKA: The foundation stone for a 100MW rental power plant was laid at Keraniganj in the city Wednesday.

State Minister for Environment and Forest Dr Hasan Mahmud laid the foundation stone saying the government was encouraging the private sector to generate electricity.

“The country will enjoy energy surplus if the generation continues increase as per government`s roadmap," he said.

He said the government was committed to reduce electricity crisis.

Zainul Haque Sikder, chairman of Sikder Group attended the inauguration.
