COMILLA: The Special Tribunal-6 Thursday awarded lifetime   imprisonment to nine members of banned Islamic outfit Jama`atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in the series bomb attack on August 17, 2005.

The tribunal judge Momotaj Begum passed the order.

The convicted are Abdul Kadir Khan, Din Islam, Saifullah Akhand, Ershadul Alam, Shamim Hossain, Abdur Rahim, Aminul Islam, Mizanur Rahman and Moin Khan.

The tribunal fined Tk 20 thousand for each and provided a year in prison in-default of the fine.

The tribunal acquitted suspected JMB men Moulana Atiqur Rahman, Hafej Zakir Hossain and Ajimuddin Master.

Tight security measures were taken in the court premises during the verdict.
