Trade union leader arrested over labour unrest

NARAYANGANJ: Police arrested central adviser of Bangladesh garments workers trade union and district CPB president Advocate Montu Ghosh on early Saturday for helping garment workers in creating labour unrest.  

Narayanganj thana OC Akthar Hossain said a special team of DB police arrested Montu Ghosh from his Palpara residence in the district town at around 2 am.

Meanwhile thousands of garments workers put up barricade on Dhaka-Narayanganj road in Shibu Market area in the morning to press home their demand for Tk 5,000 as minimum wage.

The workers also brought out processions in different parts in the district.

Additional police were deployed at different points in the town to fend off any untoward situation.
