Extremists shoot trader to death in Madaripur

MADARIPUR: Extremists shot dead a fruit trader at Ghunshi village in Sadar upazila Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Dulal Molla, 45, a fruit trader in Badamtoli area of capital Dhaka.

Victim’s brother Shahjahan Molla said Dulal left home for Dhaka in the morning. “As he reached near Ghunshi High School at about 6:30am, the extremists shot him in his chest at point blank range, killing Dulal on the spot,” he said.

Shahjahan also informed that Mosharaf, Jasim and Masim, accused of two cops killings case in the district, demanded Tk 3 lakh in toll from Dulal few months back.

“As he refused to meet their demand, they then launched a daring attack on Dulal. They shot Dulal, but he escaped from the attack,” Shahjahan added.

After the attack, Dulal had filed a written complaint with RAB-8 Madaripur camp.

Police sources said Dulal might have been killed in a sequel to past enmity.
