AL MP Shaon sued for killing party leader

DHAKA: Awami League MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon was Wednesday sued for the killing of party leader Ibrahim Ahmed in the capital.

Victim’s brother Masum Ahmed filed a murder case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court implicating the ruling-party lawmaker as the main accused.

Delwar Hossain, Kamal Hossain alias Kala (driver), Mazharul Islam Mithu, Mizan, Jibon, Riton, Alam and 8/10 other unidentified persons were also shown accused in the case.  Ten people have been made witnesses.

Hearing of the case was held at the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Shahdat Hossain at noon.

The plaintiff’s two lawyers--Khorshed Alam and Golam Mostofa Khan--told banglanews24.com.bd that the magistrate asked the investigating officer to submit probe report on the initial UD case filed after the killing, taking depositions of the plaintiff.

“The court would take the next steps on the basis of the probe report,” Khorshed Alam said.

Al local Awami League Leader and probable city corporation councilor candidate from DCC Ward No 56, Ibrahim died from a pistol fire in Sangsad Bhaban area between 6pm and 8:30pm on August 13. It was reportedly the MP’s licensed pistol.

Later, the bullet-hit body of Ibrahim was found in Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

Detective police already have started quizzing two of the accused, including the car driver of MP Shaon.
