Rab-terrorist gunfight: 2 held with firearms

GAZIPUR:  Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested two suspected terrorists after trading fire with them at Tongi Bazar on Friday night.

According to a press release, signed by senior Assistant Director of RAB- 1, on Saturday, acting on information that a gang of gunrunners would stay in Hotel Maya at Tongi Bazar for selling firearms, a team of RAB checked in the hotel in the guise of buyers .

Sensing the presence of the elite force, the “terrorists opened fire on them and retreated at about 9:30pm”.

In retaliation Rab persons also fired back, leaving two gang members injured.

Bullet-hit Robin, 25, of Noakhali and Sayed Sheikh, 27, of Pirojpur were first admitted to Tongi Hospital and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
