DHAKA: This year`s fitra has been fixed at Tk 100 per head for Dhaka and its adjoining areas.

A committee of the Islamic Foundation for determining fitra took the decision in a meeting Thursday.

Committee members and ulema (Islamic scholars) fixed the amount of fitra in proportion to the price of rice, meeting sources said.

Deputy Secretary for Religious Affairs Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Chief Mufti of Malibagh Jameya Madrasa Maulana Mohammad Abdus Salam and Mufti of the Islamic Foundation Mohammed Abdulah, among others, attended the meeting with Khatib of the national Baitul Mokarram masque Maulana Md. Salahuddin in the chair.
