ACC now sues city mayor`s son on graft charge

DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission now sued Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka’s son, Ishrak Hossain, on a graft charge as a long-pending notice seeking an account of his wealth went unheeded.

Assistant Director of the anti-graft watchdog body Md Shamsul Alam lodged the case with Ramna thana Monday, said Officer-in-Charge Shibli Noman of the police station.

On September 4, 2008, the ACC served a notice on Ishrak asking him to submit the wealth statement. The deadline for submission of the statement expired on September 15 the same year.

According to the first information report, ACC served the notice as the anti-graft body learnt that Ishrak had amassed wealth beyond known sources of his income.

The ACC sued the mayor’s son a day after it sued his (mayor’s) daughter Sarika Sadeque on the same charge.
