Illiteracy-free Kawamara village will be brought under IT purview

DHAKA: Illiteracy-free Kawamara village of Jamalpur district will be brought under the purview of Information Technology (IT) by the year of 2011.

In order to offer different government services, a Pingna Paira Community Resource Center is underway to be built by Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) under financial assistance from the Japanese Embassy in Bangladesh.

The Center is expected to play a major role in creating awareness on basic rights of the villagers of Pingna union.

The center will also act as a bridge in providing government services.

Sharishabari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Quamrul Hasan laid the foundation stone for the centre.

Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Bangladesh, Yuchi Inagaki laid the foundation in Pingna union of Sarishabari in Jamalpur district, a press release said.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) Programme Division Director Shafiqul Islam, social worker Abul Hossain, former chairmen of Pingna and Auna unions Fateh Lohani and Khairul Bashar Nazat, Project Manager of Programme Division of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Asaduzzaman, Project Co-ordinator Md Selimuddin, Programme Officer Abdur Rakib and Area Co-ordinator Ripon Khan spoke on the occasion.
