PABNA: Unidentified assailants chopped to death a local Jubo League activist in a daring attack on him at a tea-stall in Sujanagar upazila on Friday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, 30, son of Layen Ali Khan of Hogladagi village in Sujanagar.

Upazila Awami League president Abul Kashem told banglanews24.com.bd, “The murder took place following internal conflict in the party.”

Meanwhile, police arrested two persons as suspects in the killing of the youth-front leader of the ruling party.

Sujanagar thana SI Asit Kumar told banglanews24.com.bd that a gang of assailants swooped on Bakar while sitting at a tea-stall in front of a local cinema hall and chopped him up.

“Critically injured, Bakar was rushed by local people to the hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead,” the police officer said, quoting witnesses.

Cousin of the deceased Bablu filed a murder case with Sujanagar Police Station against 24 persons as suspects.

Local people brought out a procession on Saturday morning in protest against the killing and demanded immediate arrest of the criminals.
