BNP leader strangled in Jessore: Wife, son held

JESSORE: A local BNP leader was strangulated to death allegedly by his wife and son in a brutal manner in Nowapara municipal area under Abhoynagar upazila early Sunday following family feuds.

The deceased, Abdul Karim, 40, was poura BNP assistant general secretary and a fertilizer trader.
Police held Karim’s wife, Snigdha, and his son Sazzaduzzaman Jisan in connection with the cruel killing that took place after sehri time.

Abhoynagar thana OC Ahsan Habib said during preliminary interrogation, victim’s wife and son confessed to having their involvement in the killing.    

Quoting the accused, the OC painted a macabre picture of the homicide that eclipses even a horror story. He said: “The mother and son first hit Karim on his head with a bat and then strangled him with a telephone wire around his neck.

“After cutting tendons of his both hands and legs, the accused dropped the body from the roof of their two-storied house.” 

On information, police recovered and sent the body to Jessore General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
