KUSHTIA: One pedestrian was killed and another one injured in a road accident on Kushtia-Rajbari highway in Lahini Battala area in the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Hafiz, 41 and the injured is Fazlul Biswas, 60.

Witnesses said a Daulotdia-bound bus hit a station-truck from behind as its driver lost control over the steering in Lahini Battala area of the highway at about 9am.
Later, the truck skidded into a roadside crowd, leaving the pedestrians seriously injured.

They were rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where on duty doctors declared Hafiz dead, said hospital source.

Kushtia Sadar Thana source said police seized the bus. However, the driver managed to flee the scene.

The body was sent to morgue.

A case was filed with Kustia Sadar Thana in this connection.
