Ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia route restores after 8.45 hours

Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were resumed on Wednesday (December 11) morning after a suspension of 8.45 hours caused by dense fog.

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat sources confirmed the resumption at 9:00 am.

Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of BIWTC Paturia Ghat said the ferry movement was halted at 12:30 am due to poor visibility as thick fog enveloped the river.

As the fog cleared, ferry operations resumed, allowing vehicles to cross the Padma River once again, he added.

Mahmud Chowdhury also said all the ferries are running now normally.

At the time of suspension, approximately 150 vehicles, including passenger buses, private cars, and goods-laden trucks, were waiting for ferries on both sides of the river. Two ferries, Shah Ali and Dhanshiri, had been anchored in the middle of the Jamuna River with both vehicles and passengers aboard.
