A Gazipur court has put Muaz Bin Noor, a leader of the Maulana Saad faction of Tabligh Jamaat, on a three-day remand in connection with the recent clash at the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema ground.

Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Al Mamun passed the order after a hearing on Sunday (December 22),

Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Asaduzzaman of Tongi West Police Station confirmed the matter.

He said police had sought a seven-day remand, but the court approved three days.

On December 18, a clash broke out between Maulana Saad and Maulana Zubair factions over holding a five-day pre-Ijtema gathering, leaving three people dead and over 100 injured.

On December 19, Maulana Zubair's follower SM Alam Hossain filed a case with Tongi West Police Station, naming 29 individuals and accusing several hundred unidentified people. Muaz Bin Noor was arrested later that night from his residence in Dhaka’s Uttara area.
