BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has left her Gulshan residence, Firoza, for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to board a special air ambulance to London at 10pm.
Her motorcade faced delays due to a large crowd of supporters, who waved goodbye as she left.
Khaleda Zia will travel to London’s Heathrow Airport, where she will be reunited with her son, Tarique Rahman, after over seven years. The special air ambulance was arranged by Qatar’s Emir.
Earlier in the day, BNP leaders and activists gathered at Firoza, chanting slogans in support of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited her residence to address the crowd, urging them to keep the area orderly.
