Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sajjat Ali urged citizens to refrain from blocking streets to demand political or social change, highlighting the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow in the city.

He said: "Blocking streets to realize demands disrupts the city's traffic system, making the situation more fragile. When a road is closed, Dhaka comes to a standstill."

The DMP Commissioner was speaking as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Crime Reporters’ Association (CRAB) annual general meeting at Dhaka Club.

He also urged citizens to address their demands through proper channels and engage in dialogue for solutions, rather than resorting to road blockages.

Ali also acknowledged the close collaboration between DMP and CRAB, praising the association for its past support and seeking continued cooperation in addressing mistakes and improving service delivery.

In his address, Ali highlighted ongoing efforts to combat robbery, noting that the police, including the Detective Branch, have been successful in curbing the crime.

He emphasized the importance of joint efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of city residents, with police officers working extended hours to maintain order.

The event was attended by DMP officers, CRAB members, and journalists from various media outlets.
