A nationwide Quran memorisation contest, the "Hifzul Quran" competition, will take place for the first time across the country, starting this month and running through May.
The event, organised with state backing, was announced by the Islamic Foundation in a recent notification.
The competition will be divided into 15 zones, covering all eight divisions of the country.
It will feature three categories: participants aged below 18, below 15, and below 12 years.
Each educational institution can send up to five candidates per category.
The contest will proceed through multiple stages: upazila level in January, district level in February, divisional level in April, and the final competition in May.
Prizes include Tk2 lakh for the winner, Tk1.5 lakh for the first runner-up, and Tk1 lakh for the second runner-up, with additional awards at the upazila and district levels.
