Comilla: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in separate midnight raids on Saturday night held three suspected drug peddlers with some 35,000 narcotic Yaba tablets worth about Tk 1.75 crore in the district.

A team of the crime-prevention company-2 of RAB-11 raided the house of one Shahjahan at village Hatigara in Sadar upazila at about 00:30am and seized 10,000 pieces of the stimulant tablet, worth about Tk 50 lakh, officials said.

They also arrested Shahjahan, his wife Jahanara and Dulal.

In another raid, 33 Rifles Battalion personnel recovered 25,000 pieces of Yaba, valued about Tk 1.25 crore, from a drug den at Jalua along the River Gumti.

The border guards, however, could not arrest anybody as the peddlers “managed to flee the scene” sensing their presence.
