Ferry services have been suspended on Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat water routes due to dense fog.

The BIWTC authorities confirmed that the ferry services were suspended on early Wednesday (January 22).

The fog intensified after midnight on Tuesday, making the marking points of the waterway channel unclear. 

As a precautionary measure, ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes were temporarily halted from 2 am to prevent accidents. 

At the time of suspension, two ferries were stranded in Kazirhat and three in Paturia, stuck mid-river.

BIWTC Deputy General Manager (Commerce) Nasir Hossain said ferry operations were suspended on both routes for safety reasons. 

Services will resume once visibility improves, he added.
