The Special District and Sessions Judge Court in Jashore has sentenced former Jashore-6 lawmaker Shahin Chakladar to four years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case. 

The court also imposed a fine of Tk 20,000 and ordered the confiscation of his property worth approximately Tk 38,03,685.

Chakladar, who is also the general secretary of Jashore Zila Awami League, was absent during the pronouncement of the judgment. 

A warrant for his arrest has been issued for the execution of the sentence.

The case, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2008, accused Chakladar of concealing assets worth over Tk 38 lakhs. 

Investigations revealed discrepancies in his wealth statement, where he failed to declare property valued at Tk 38,03,685.
