In response to the recent cold wave in parts of the country, the Bijoyee Human Development Foundation (BHDF) distributed hundreds of blankets to the urban poor in Mymensingh city with assistance of the deputy commissioner's office.
Rokeya Rokon, chairperson of the Foundation along with its members and advisors handed over blankets to more than 150 cold-stricken people during a ten-day campaign from 12 to 21 January ending yesterday.
Representatives from district administration and offices of Information, Women Affairs and Youth Development not only joined the inauguration but also remained attached to the program which encouraged us a lot, said Rokeya.
The blanket recipients, mostly vulnerable women, elderlies and daily labourers expressed sincere gratitude to DC and BHDF on getting the gift of warmth.
The BHDF chair reaffirmed her organization's commitment to assisting marginalized communities during any emergency.
