A Dhaka court today set February 4 for a hearing on charge framing in a case filed against suspended Assistant Commissioner Tapasi Tabassum Urmi for making derogatory remarks about Abu Sayed and other martyrs of the July-August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order after granting a time plea by the accused's lawyer. The court also granted Urmi bail.
The case was filed by Gono Adhikar Parishad's Abu Hanif on October 8, 2024.
Following an initial hearing, Urmi surrendered to the court on November 28 and was granted bail on a Tk 500 bond.
The case stems from a controversial Facebook post by Urmi on October 5, where she made offensive comments about the martyrs and the chief adviser of the interim government.
She was subsequently suspended on October 7 and made OSD the day after her post.
