After a long pause, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) took to the streets in a colourful rally in Dhaka on Friday (Nov 8), led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Participants in the rally showcased various creative costumes. Children dressed as BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, while others dressed as former President Ziaur Rahman.
However, the highlight of the rally was a dramatic portrayal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a caged "monster" figure, drawing crowds and selfies from the participants.
The cage, spotted in front of Matsya Bhaban, featured a woman dressed to represent Sheikh Hasina with sunglasses, horns, exaggerated teeth, and red paint symbolizing blood. Placards on the cage carried messages like, “I sell national interests by joining hands with India’s Modi,” “I lie morning and evening,” “I kill women and children from helicopters,” and “I am the world’s biggest corrupt leader.”
Many BNP supporters took photos and videos of the display, chanting slogans like “Hasina has been exposed” and “We demand the hanging of killer Hasina.”
