Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested former member of parliament for Sylhet-2 and Jatiya Party’s central leader Yahya Chowdhury from Dhaka’s Uttara late Monday (Nov 11).
A media release, signed by Md Mashiur Rahman Sohel, assistant superintendent of police (media) of the RAB-9 confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
A joint team of the RAB-1 and- 9 conducted a drive at a house in the Uttara and arrested him, it added.
Earlier on October 2, a case was filed against Yahya Chowdhury at the Kotwali police station, accusing him of assaulting students and citizens during an anti-discrimination movement.
Yahya Chowdhury was elected member of parliament from Sylhet-2 in 2014 as a Jatiya Party candidate.
