BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to travel to London on Tuesday night (Jan 7) for advanced medical treatment in an air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar, according to Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the party's standing committee.

He also said: "Khaleda Zia's medical team in London would assess her condition. If they determine that further treatment is necessary in the United States, she will proceed there."

Dr. Zahid was speaking at a press conference held on Monday (January 6) at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan, Dhaka.

The former prime minister is battling multiple health issues, including liver cirrhosis, heart disease, lung complications, arthritis, kidney ailments, diabetes, and vision problems. Her medical board had previously recommended advanced treatment abroad, and her transfer to London marks a critical step in her care.

Dr. Zahid revealed that six doctors will accompany Khaleda Zia aboard the air ambulance, which is scheduled to depart at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Upon arrival in the United Kingdom, she will be admitted to a renowned clinic for treatment. 

Khaleda Zia has expressed her gratitude to the people of Bangladesh for their support and has requested their prayers for her recovery, he said, adding she also intends to perform Umrah upon regaining her health.
